Daniel Oliveira’s article on the Hilton case

On 14 August 2026, Daniel Oliveira wrote in Expresso about the Hilton and the illegalities surrounding the process, highlighting what is becoming increasingly evident: for reasons that are difficult to understand, Miguel Pinto Luz is not — and has not been — scrutinised over his management of Cascais, despite the numerous controversial cases that arose during his time there, including cases in which he was directly involved.

In addition to the Hilton, and linked to it, Nova SBE is another of the most blatant cases involving various alleged illegalities and irregularities.

It is hoped that these actions will soon receive the attention they deserve, because a society can only be democratic if those who hold public office are subject to scrutiny and are not above the law.
