On the eve of the demonstration, we are in the news

The news widely reported yesterday by the media stems, as is well known, from a complaint filed by SOS Quinta dos Ingleses, which accuses the Cascais City Council (CMC) of various illegalities in the process of selling and licensing the land where the so-called Hilton Hotel is being built in Carcavelos.

SOS Quinta dos Ingleses firmly believes that the continuation of the investigation will only further reinforce the evidence of the alleged illegalities, particularly those attributed to Carlos Carreiras and Miguel Pinto Luz. This will prove that we are right and that the construction of yet another massive building should never have been allowed on land that was partially classified as a REN (National Ecological Reserve) zone—where construction was not permitted—on the coastal edge, in violation of the POC-ACE (Coastal Zone Planning) and several regulations of the Cascais Municipal Master Plan (PDM).

Beyond these environmental concerns, what is most shocking is the sale price: €312,000 for a plot of over 800 square meters on the seafront—an absurdly low amount compared to market prices.

Since it has been repeatedly claimed by Minister Miguel Pinto Luz and Mayor Carlos Carreiras, we would like to emphasize that it is absolutely false that SOS Quinta dos Ingleses has filed dozens of complaints and that these have been systematically dismissed by judicial authorities. SOS Quinta dos Ingleses has filed only one criminal complaint against CMC and these public officeholders, which led to these searches. In its official statement, the Judiciary Police has indicated that there is strong evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
