Stop Environmental Crime in Carcavelos Silent Action

On March 3rd, we witnessed yet another bold greenwashing campaign led by the Cascais City Council in collusion with the União das Freguesias de Carcavelos Parede, entities that are experts in their policy of misinformation when it comes to talking about nature protection.
In circumstantial speeches, they disguised their environmental concerns by not a word mentioning the trees that they condemned to be cut down.
That day, we realised this executive's concept of green mobility: they are mobile structures, a tree in a pot, a bush for decoration, that can be taken wherever one wants. Plants are planted in a hurry so that it is possible to take photos along the route taken by the entourage and show the world its "environmental responsibility". This is what the CMC proclaims as renaturalisation, a fashionable, empty term, like so many others that serve to dazzle the most inattentive and appear in reports that some in Europe will believe to be accurate. It is a shame that the photos do not show how much the presidential entourage was booed – few will be fooled.
With some boos in between, our protest was mostly silent, with mouths glued together and large banners with messages of appeal, as a way of expressing the lack of response from the local authority to the countless times that the population, SOS Quinta dos Ingleses and Alvorada da Floresta have called for the conversion of Quinta dos Ingleses into an urban natural park, and have been systematically ignored by the local authority, including two public petitions, with 9 thousand and more than 10 thousand signatures, and the 3 thousand questions that were raised in public consultation about the mega-project in Quinta, which were never answered.
Thank you to everyone who took the morning to show their indignation and clarify that the population is not being listened to when defending the most significant green lung in Carcavelos: Quinta dos Ingleses.
